Learn the Golf Psychology for Mind Focus

Using binaural and monaural beats

The Pro Golf IQ program uses a revolutionary and highly modified technique of brainwave entrainment called 'interhemispheric synchronic mediation' (or ISM for short). This technique is the guiding principle behind Pro Golf IQ, and uses binaural and monaural beats, introducing a slightly different tone into each ear through headphones. By mixing pure tones together, their wave forms add and subtract from one another, creating a desirable brainwave pattern for learning new behaviors or modifying the old. That's how we can mediate or produce a controlled rate of brainwave frequency, which is the key to getting the right and left hemispheres of the brain talking to each other.

Brain Patterns

Entrainment is an aspect of sound closely related to natural rhythms, and the way these rhythms affect us. It's based on the way that the powerful rhythmic vibrations of one object cause the less powerful vibrations of another to fall in line, oscillating at the same rate as the first object. Fireflies blinking on and off entrain with one another. Female college roommates often have menstrual cycles that synchronize together. This entrainment also takes place when two people have a good conversation. Their brain waves oscillate in synchronicity.

Entrainment was discovered back in the 1660s, when Christian Huygens, a Dutch scientist, was working on a design for the pendulum clock. He discovered that if two of them were placed on a wall near each other, they would eventually end up swinging at the same rate due to their mutual influence on each other. Later, scientists found this very same principle could be very widely applied.

There are four basic brainwave states:

  1. Beta waves (14Hz – 20Hz). These are typical of a normal state of waking consciousness.
  2. Alpha waves (8Hz-13Hz). These occur when we daydream and are often associated with a light state of meditation.
  3. Theta waves (4Hz-7Hz). These are found in high states of creativity, but also in deep meditation and sleep.
  4. Delta waves (0.5Hz-3Hz). These occur in deep sleep or unconsciousness.

Exposure to audio-visual stimulation can alter these frequencies – think of listening to soothing music, for example – and our program uses specially designed soundcapes to induce hemispheric alignment, that is, get the right and left sides of the brain working together. This can improve the intellectual functioning of your brain – as well as your golf.

The Pro Golf IQ program

Our sessions start in the beta frequency range (14Hz-20Hz) to match our waking state, and gradually ramp down to the target range. Most users find that within a session or two, they can easily follow the changing frequencies and patterns and get into the desired learning state.

Focused relaxation stimulates production of alpha and theta frequencies, and you’ll quickly learn how to achieve this in your Pro Golf IQ program. These frequencies affect the body and mind profoundly with positive, lasting effects. Best of all, this process will begin to balance the way your brain learns and processes information, getting both sides working together so you can perform to your full potential on the golf course.

You will find a more detailed breakdown of each session in the program section of the web site.
